Haven't been submitting work recently on dArt. Been busy with other stuff (can't actually remember what)
Well this was one such escapade. My entry for a poster competition held at a college around these parts. The topic was "One World - World Without Strangers". Fighting past the creepily mushy subject, was ~merzhin and me. The concept of a world without strangers, although quite pleasant and hopeful, its strikingly idealist and hence impractical, to a large extent, in the real world. We understand that this is viewing the concept from a slightly extreme standpoint, but it does put into perspective the sheer futility of banking on such a false hope. This was the idea behind the poster itself. Cynicism, if you will. Our protagonist in the image paints those who stand before him the same color as him this being symbolic of not only the face value of the strangers but their race, their ideologies and so on. We thought, our idea was fair and execution, although amateur, presentable. But things turned out differently. Poor competition and a weak judging system threw the competition into a whole other league - one I don't want to be a part of. But I'm furthering my moral victory here. Tell me what you think. Maybe even discuss the concept. Cheers. Good to be back. |
