Recently joined this pretty amazing community here on dArt. Lot of talented artists. Check it out.
Well, their topic for this contest was Lego and how it's a dying toy. Personally I'm a huge fan of Lego. Enriched my childhood. Even remember my first set. Amazing stuff. Was a jeep that had this carrier with a speedboat on it. Crazy shit. Not embarrassed to say if I got a new set today, I'd play like never before.
Well, now to the ad. The idea the community had was an ad either directed at adults or kids. I took that as being a general promo of sorts for Lego. Took the basic idea of it being "building blocks" (doesn't do justice, I know). The concept is pretty clear otherwise I hope. If it isn't, let me know and I'll crawl into a corner and be disappointed.
Anyone who is reading this, goddamit, please comment. Judge me on both concept and execution. I could use the criticism. I know the execution is weak. Did this in 15 minutes I'd think. Didn't really have time since I found out about the contest today. All the same, feel free to rip it apart. Cheers.
The design is good and the message is clear. If you were to improve on it, I'd say try to give the blocks a more realistic composition. The flipped block clearly looks flipped, and the perspective is a bit messed up. If you can find other stock elsewhere then that would be good, else you could try to make one with vectors.
I love the concept. The reflection adds something really subtible. For the blocks, I'd follow since some are a bit stretched.
Maybe, differencing a bit more the size of the different blocks would make it better?
I'd keep only the red, it gets the Lego logo pretty well.
Hope that helps!
